Honest to God, we all have them, right???
& it’s fine. Commitment is hard, & it’s something that everyone struggles with at least one time in life, in one form or another – just being real.
The weirdo thing is, I NEVER had commitment issues when it came to working out.
I wasn’t lazy, unmotivated, whatever AT ALL.
Like you would 100% have a higher chance of witnessing me snacking on some XXTRA Flamin’ Hot Cheetos & not fully committing to wellness. But ditching me-time with the treadmill & some weights?
Maybe it’s my sheer passion for fitness. Maybe it’s my SNAZZY gym membership.
I feel like it’s the latter – here’s why …
Why a Gym Membership WORKS
For me, it all lies in the cost. I’m a business major – part of why I’m all about making good investments. Because, you PAY for a gym membership. It’s not free. You get unlimited access to all of those lovely exercise machines, studio space, group-training classes, pools / hot tubs, sauna / steam rooms, & even freakin’ towel service because you spend cold, hard cash on it EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH.
Heck, even if you’re using your college’s gym, your tuition still cost lots of $$$.
It’s like if you’re subbed to Netflix or Spotify but you never use it – a total waste & a bad investment.
With this mentality in mind, I convinced myself to hit the gym every available night I had. Often, this meant 7 days a week. While people were eating out or partying it up, I was working on myself. 😉
… & dancing in front of the locker room mirrors if we’re being honest – LOL.
& I don’t regret any of it. Once you start working out, you stop feeling like crap. & once you stop feeling like crap, you most likely will stop eating like crap. You’d say to yourself : I just spent 2 hours working my ass off. Do I really need a midnight snack? NOPE.
There are other ways to “TREAT YOSELF” – a.k.a. the most-used excuse ever to justify bad choices …
Like nothing brings me more joy than FINALLY being able to zip up that new dress, or rewarding myself w/ an episode of Netflix, or cuddling w/ Bonbon.
I mean, why reward yourself with food, right? You’re not a dog!
[ speaking of dogs, isn’t he a cutie? ]
But really, try it. Make the plunge & sign up for that gym membership … & make the effort to actually commit to it.
Pretty soon, you’ll be well on your way to wellness, weight loss, & major self-love.
I HIGHLY recommend it.
So, what are your thoughts? Do you have a gym membership? Has it helped you commit to wellness? Shoot me some comments! x
