Balance, balance, balance – it’s EVERYTHING.
But what do I mean by it?
Having a balanced lifestyle is pretty much like having your sh*t together.
It involves all facets of life, whether it’s physical, intellectual, occupational, social, or emotional.
You know – that one girl you love, but then also hate, because she effortlessly looks like she’s always having a grand ole time, no troubles in the horizon, head in the clouds kinda vibe?
Except for one thing …
It’s not effortless. IT NEVER IS. & if she swears up & down that it is – she’s probably lying & putting up a facade to seem like she’s naturally perfect.
Snooze – it’s 2018 & it’s time to share, share, share.
SO my job here is to get real & shatter that facade – let’s talk about what it takes to get to a balanced lifestyle …
Jumpstarting your balanced lifestyle comes w/ understanding 2 things :
First & foremost, know that having your sh*t together is YOUR thing. Everything you do when it comes to self improvement has to be for you & only you. Your life is in YOUR HANDS. No one else’s.
Without motivation from within, there’s just no point. Seriously.
Like, you’re not going to wake up at 7:30 a.m. on a Monday to work your skincare routine & put on makeup … ALL just for John from your marketing class, y’know?
NOPE, not happening – it’s all for YOU. Because one day John is just going to be another John Doe, but you’re still that beautiful you.
Secondly, when it comes to making changes, you want to make them LAST. For that to happen, the changes need to be integrated into your lifestyle.
An example : I spent a good part of my life confused w/ health, wellness, fitness, nutrition, & the like – I honestly couldn’t tell you all of the things I’ve tried in the past years in the name of losing weight … But I can tell you, NONE of them reallllyyyy worked.
Maybe for like 5 seconds?
The problem was, I wasn’t making any real, lasting changes. Sure, the effort was there – it just wasn’t realistic. It was a short-term thing, not a lifestyle change.
The moment I started changing my lifestyle began when I studied up on nutrition, did some major wellness research, planned out my meals, & got my ass to a gym – all on a daily basis.
It didn’t even feel like a change anymore … it just felt like another day in the life.
& after shifting my mindset & being consistent? I was a step closer to achieving balance, health-wise.
LET ME TELL YA : working towards a balanced lifestyle is GREAT. It’s happiness, it’s character development, it’s discipline training, it’s FINALLY feeling like your mind is at ease.
So of course it’s also what this blog is all about.
